The Distance Between Success And Failure Is You - Part II
Danny: “Paul, I will
repeat to you some of the things you said to me so that Tom can also learn from
them. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. Andy you too can listen carefully.
Here we go. You said life is real hard, especially for you, right? You believe
you are not smart enough or have enough education to make the big bucks,
correct? You also believe that it is real hard and difficult to make money,
isn't it? You believe all the rich people are crooks, which implies you'd
rather be honest than rich - be honest and die wretched, correct? You further
believe you will never be rich, that you have to work real hard for your money,
and that is only when you have enough money that you can make money to work for
you, correct? You also believe that in
order to succeed financially it will take a lot of hard work, sweat, suffering
and struggles. Correct? And we're not finished yet because you also believe you
never get any breaks and that maybe this is your fate in life, isn't it? Did I
miss anything?"
Andy: “Absolutely nothing.”
Paul: (In a sad tone of voice) “you covered
just about everything"
Danny: (he laughed) “congratulations, Paul.
With all those beliefs and thoughts in your mind, you are not attracting
success to you; you are not a success magnet but a failure magnet. You cannot
succeed that way, because you have programmed wrong things in your mind and you
cannot reap from your mind (life) what you did not sow into your mind except by
stealing from others which is not legal. And no thief is ever bold of what he
has.”
The Distance Between Success And Failure Is You - Part I
Do you know that the distance between success and failure is you?
I would like to narrate a story of a man,
Paul, who was a Supervisor at a shipping company. He was born and raised up
with a wrong mindset against the rich which affected the way his life turned
out to be. Fortunately for him, he met a few of his classmates who made him to
reformat his mindset to eliminate all the weed-seeds of wrong notions about
riches to a more successful-driven mind. For Paul, his story was about a person
who was covered with the ashes of poverty to a person that was quaked into
riches; he re-wrote the history of his lineage from failure to success.
Paul was a very vibrant and hardworking young
man who always goes the-extra- mile to pay his bills and sustain his aged
parents. But one day, he got frustrated because he was not getting what he
expected in life: he was not earning enough money to pay all his bills again;
he was not meeting his demands; he was not having influence among his peers.
Hence, he ventured into other new businesses
that could generate more money for him and perhaps make him more famous. (Just
like what most people do today). Unknowingly to him at that time, he was
chasing success away from himself because his mindset towards the rich and the
successful was very negative. He was working against the universal law of attraction
that says "like attracts like", or the law of sowing and reaping that
says “whatever a man sows, so shall he reap". So, Paul's negative mindset
(attitude) was repelling success and attracting frustrations and failures to
his works and world.

Challenges Will Give birth To A Better Nigeria, says Tinubu
All
Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu said at
the weekend that the challenges facing Nigeria will give birth to a better
nation.
He noted
that the process of achieving the required result, though difficult, would lead
the country to good fortunes, if undertaken.
Tinubu
explained that the challenges demanded that the country changed from dependent
on oil or fall by the wayside, adding that there was no third option.
The former
Lagos State governor spoke in Abuja on Saturday at the dinner/award ceremony
organised by the Ahmadu Bellow University Alumni Association.
Saraki Should Step Aside As Senate President By Reuben Abati
The present Senate serving the Nigerian people runs the risk of
being remembered as the worst since 1999. Public Relations Consultants
and media officials of this particular Senate have done their part flooding
both the print and the online media with details of how productive the Bukola
Saraki-led Senate has been, and they have been quite aggressive in telling us
about 30 important Bills which when passed, will change the face of Nigeria and
deliver change.
The Senate according to one report has
considered over 125 bills, debated over 48 motions, and passed three bills. But
nobody is apparently impressed. During the Jonathan administration, the Senate
was the better regarded of the two legislative chambers. While members of the
House of Representatives in the Seventh Assembly behaved as if they were a band
of students’ unionists, the then Red Chamber projected an image of maturity and
temperance, even if it was also self-serving! With the 8th Assembly, the
House of Representatives, apart from the shameful resort to physical combat
over the distribution of “juicy” committees in November 2015, has shown itself
to be better organized than the present Senate. The critical difference is that
of leadership. It is one of management. It is a matter of weight and politics.

The Naked Words (2)
“Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever. That surrender, even the smallest act of giving up, stays with me. So when I feel like quitting, I ask myself, which would I rather live with?”…Lance Armstrong
Naked Words
"If you want to succeed in the world you must make your own opportunities as you go on. The man who waits for some seventh wave to toss him on dry land will find that the seventh wave is a long time a coming. You can commit no greater folly than to sit by the roadside until someone comes along and invites you to ride with him to wealth or influence."

institutions.

The
SSS had asked Justice Adeniyi Ademola to allow the use of masked witnesses
against Mr. Dasuki.
But
the court dismissed the application.

tendered as evidence at the tribunal.
Gbajabiamila Writes Chinese Leader•’Fayose’s Letter Amounts To Constitutional Sabostage
House of Representatives Majority
leader Femi Gbajabiamila has described Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose
as a meddlesome interloper following the letter he wrote to Chinese President
Xi Jinping on the alleged $6 billion loan sought by Nigeria from China.
In a letter to the Chinese leader
yesterday, Gbajabiamila said Fayose ignorantly overreached himself and
wilfully breached the constitution by failing to defend the oath he swore to.
The House leader, who said members
of the lower chamber were worried by the flagrant abuse of office by Fayose,
however, asked the Chinese leader to ignore him as he showed lack of
understanding of the workings of the federal system of government.

LEGISLATIVE SACRILEGE: PURPORTED AMENDMENT OF THE CCB&T & ACJA ACTS by Senator Babajide Omoworare
Instead of making uninformed contribution on Senate Bill 248 - A
Bill for an Act to Amend the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act Cap. C15,
Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004 and for other Related Matters proposed
by Senator Peter Nwabuoshi; I have decided to have a deep breath and have a
second look at the laws and other ancillary matters. Let me say ab initio
without mincing words that I oppose the Bill in toto on points of law and I am
averse to same for moral reasons, having taken more than a cursory look at the
Constitution, the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, the Bill in question
and the Lead Debate of Senator Nwabuoshi.
It is important to note that another Bill is pending before the
Senate: Senate Bill 249 - A Bill for an Act to Amend the Administration of
Criminal Justice Act, 2015; and for Other Related Matters by Senator Isah
Misau. The purport of the amendment is to amend Section thereof and ensure that
the ACJA does not apply not only to Court Martial, but also to such other
Courts and Tribunals not listed in Section 6 (6) of the Constitution. I have
also looked at the ACJA and this Bill and I do not agree with same.

Saraki: The Man Who Dug His Own Grave By Osita Chiagorom
At the
inception of this administration, the president and the ruling party, APC made
it known to all that they don’t need a senate president with excess baggage.
They don’t need a senate president with outstanding corruption
cases because they want to maintain a neat leadership devoid of personalities
with ongoing corruption cases.
Ordinarily, Senator George Akume was supposed to emerge as the
senate president in the sense that he was the senate minority leader when his
party(APC) was in the opposition.
With his party coming to power, he was supposed to be
automatically elevated to the senate presidency.
U.S. agrees to give Nigeria $480m Abacha family loot
United States has agreed to repatriate
to Nigeria about $480million believed to have been stolen by the late Head of
State, Gen. Sani Abacha and his family.
But the conditions for the repatriation
of the cash and other details are being worked out, The Nation has learnt.
Also, it was learnt that the Department
of Justice in the United States now has a Kleptocracy Unit, which will assist
to track looted funds and money laundered by public officials from Nigeria and
other nations.
Shocking Photo: Here’s a Photo of Snakes That Got Electrocuted After One Tried to Bite the Other
A revolting photo shows two snakes
that got electrocuted as one bit the other inside a home electrical box.
Workers for the electrical services department in Morganton,
N.C., found the reptiles when they went to turn off power at a house that was
scheduled to be demolished, according to a post on the Facebook page for the
city government: “One snake slithered across two hot terminals and was
electrocuted; The second snake was biting the first and received the jolt as
well.”

Corruption Trial: Senate President Saraki’s Camp In Disarray, Dino Melaye Failed To Appear At Poorly Attended Meeting Of 'Likemind' Senators
Hours after the refusal of the fundamental rights
application by Senate President Bukola Saraki to stop his trial at the Code of
Conduct Tribunal (CCT) by a Federal High Court in Abuja, there were signs at
the weekend that some of his prominent loyalists within the ruling All
Progressives Congress (APC) may be retracing their steps.
There were strong indications that they may be opting to support
an ongoing move by the leadership of the party to unite the party’s caucus in
the national assembly.
Reliable national assembly sources told The
Nation yesterday that prior to the judgment delivered by Justice Abdul
Kafarati on Friday, some frontline supporters of the embattled Senate President
have resolved to withdraw their support for Saraki in his bid to remain in
office as Senate President while his trial at the CCT lasts.
2016 Budget Palaver: Heads may roll as Presidency uncovers more infractions
As controversy
continues to dog the budget transmitted by the National Assembly to the
Presidency for assent, indications emerged last night that President Muhammadu
Buhari was still furious with the high level of distortions inflicted on his
estimates by the lawmakers.
For that reason,
the President is said to be considering measures to deal with those who
masterminded the budget infractions, thereby drawing back the hands of his
administration. Competent sources said that the President became more
